altDuring Advent, Mrs. Paula's Transitional Kindergarten students are taking some very exciting trips on "Mustang Air's" super-duper rocket air plane to numerous European countries to learn about Christmas traditions.

Twice a week, the students use their Christmas Around the World passport, receiving a stamp in each of the countries they visit. They learn about the country's location, its flag and discuss its Christmas traditions. They also do an art activity or hear from a special speaker who represents that country, as well as enjoy a traditional treat made by parent volunteers.

Recently, France's Pere Noel surprised the children with a visit after he hidden small gold coins in the children's gym shoes in celebration of St. Nicholas Day. Pere Noel also offered each child a special "Jingle Bell" and listened as they told him what they wanted for Christmas. After Pere Noel headed back to France, the children enjoyed some Buche de Noel, which is a traditional Christmas cake shaped like a Yule log.

Other countries the students have "visited" so far are Ireland, Italy and Denmark.
